Curious, Independent, Tomboy
Name: Mackenzie Grace Philips
Nickname(s): Mac

Birthdate: 1rst of October 1988

Location: New York City
`Appearance ,,
Let's just start at the overall appearance and work our way from there when we’re trying to describe Mac’s look. She’s the average twenty year old girl, though she tends to sometimes stand out a bit because of her clothing. Not that she wears such extravagant things she just doesn’t dress like the other girls her age. First of all she hates skirts, and dresses and anything that even comes close to pink. Because her mother is this very girly person and was always trying to get Mac to wear that kind of things, well that only made her hate it even more. She likes to wear jeans or shorts even, but never a skirt or a dress. Other than that she always likes to wear sneakers, or converse allstars, those are her personal favourites. She also loves Ed Hardy, it’s the only brand (besides converse) that she will ever wear. Her shirt are mostly simple, she loves funny phrases tees or just random tees. To finish it off, she loves jewellery, necklaces and bracelets and earrings for her one pierced ear.
Her hair is simple, dark brown few natural highlights here and there but nothing fancy at all. Mac almost always wears her hair down letting it fall long down her back and for some reason she almost constantly runs her hands through her hair, messing it up even more than it already is. She never pays much attention to it because it’s just not important to her, that need that some of the other girls have, that need to be attractive, she just doesn’t really have that. She likes the way she looks and she doesn’t feel any need to add to it.
The same with make up. She likes it sometimes, but only up to a limit. She likes mascara some eyeliner and when she’s feeling particularly girly, she might even wear some lipgloss.
Mac has light, big eyes that always seem to be looking for something new. She has a gift for watching people without them knowing it and she uses it quite often. Her skin is very pale, because she doesn’t like being out in the sun and she is also very skinny. Not that her being skinny matters to her, she has just always been like that. Her mother would kill for Mac’s figure but Mac never does anything to accentuate her figure, which drives her mother mad.

Best Feature: My best feature? I hate talking about myself and coming up with a best feature might take me a while. I don’t really like anything about the way I look, it’s not that I hate it but I’m over overly enthusiastic with myself. I guess if I have to pick, it would be eyes. They’re bright and big and I kinda like them. Other than that I’d go for my overall look. Just because I don’t care about what other people think and I wear the things I like.
Worst Feature: Worst feature… how long do you got? I don’t really hate anything about myself either, but if I have to choose one thing, it’s my scars. It’s my own fault that I have them and I try to hide them at all cause. Oh, and my nose, it’s kinda weird. [/size]
`Personality ,,
Tomboy
Mac is the definition of a tomboy, when it comes to not liking anything that's girly or pink. She doesn’t really hang around girls that much either, she doesn’t care for gossip or boys or make-up or any of the other thing that the random girls at her school talk about. Though, she's not really into guy things either, she's not bad at sports actually she’s quiet good because she is very good at observing people during the game and therefore almost always knows exactly what everyone is going to do, but she just doesn't enjoy it. She doesn't like physical contact and tries to avoid it at all times. Other than the sports she loves the outdoors, she loves the inspiration that it gives her. She loves to climb trees and sit on the highest branch she can reach to watch the sun slowly setting and just write about the beauty of it. Mac is a big fan of hiking and she loves getting down and dirty as well, when she was little she couldn’t stay clean for five minutes before she would go rolling around in the mud. Both because she and enjoyed it, but also because her mother used to dress her in the most girly things and she just wanted to destroy them.
Quiet
When it comes to Mac, she likes to express herself with words, though not as a normal person by actually talking, but more through her writing. She’s not what you would call, verbose, she is quite the opposite. But though she doesn’t say much, when she does say something people listen to her. However, she doesn’t really make sense sometimes. Her head is filled with all the poetry and books that she has once read and it’s filled with so much information that sometimes it comes out as a muttered ramble that only Franklin can understand. She likes to think things through even when it comes to answering a simple yes or no question. When it comes to talking she just doesn’t really enjoy it, she believes that people talk too much and think too less. If people would consider there words better, they probably wouldn’t insult as many people and the fights in the school would be over before they even started. However, even though Mac is very careful with what she says, she sometimes doesn’t realise that people don’t understand what’s going on in her mind. She could be talking about something that is completely sane and normal to her where others wouldn’t understand a word of it.
Caring & Understanding
Mac doesn't really like to hang out around people, especially people that she doesn't know because she just sees no reason to. But the people that do know her, inside and out, they know that she is one of the most understanding people out there. People sometimes think she's a bit of a b!tch because she's quiet and keeps to herself and doesn't really like the be happy and preppy like everyone else. However, she is quite the opposite of that. She cares for people, for animals, for the world around, everything is precious to her. Because she faced death a few times in her life, she realises how precious things are and she is very protective of the things she loves. She's a person with layers, on the outside she seems cold and just not worth your time. But once you get to know, get inside of her mind, try and understand why she is the way she is. Then she'll be one of the best friends anyone could wish for.
Curious
Mac is a very curious person, not so much when it comes to people and their gossip about who is doing who and where. But more about why they people are there, where they’re headed, what they are really like behind the mask that she believes everyone wears. There are times when she’ll be in her room, by her window just watching the people walking on the street wondering why they were there and where they were headed. She is fascinated with history and biology and science, because she wants to know how everything works. She even tore apart her brother’s x-box once because she wanted to know how it worked. Of course, her brother wasn’t really pleased with this.
Her bright eyes are always scanning over the people around her, observing them closely and without drawing attention to herself. She tries to figure people out, hoping to find a way to understand them and the way they act.
Strong & Independent
Mac believes that she is complete within herself, that she doesn’t need anyone to take care of her and that she is just perfectly fine on her own. And she is. There is nothing that she can’t do alone, because she just doesn’t feel the need to be with someone. Where other girls are screaming that they will die alone when they’re single at 16, Mac knows that if love wants to find her it will, and if it doesn’t, well then that’s fine too. She doesn’t like to rely on people and she doesn’t like to ask for help. She wants to be able to do everything herself. Some people might think of her as a b!tch because she feels this way, and when people offer to help her she always reclines because she wants to do it herself. Of course, sometimes people take that the wrong way and it’s one of the other reason why some people think that Mac is a bit odd. But Peyton doesn’t care, she likes being on her own, because she knows that in the end people can only rely on themselves, relying on someone else just brings more problems once they leave and when you always do it on your own you never have to fear that someone leaves you and sticks you with the mess they leave behind. She’s not bitter, not at all, she’s just realistic.
Friends
When it comes to friends, she doesn’t have many. But it's not like she really minds, she likes sitting by herself at lunch, to sit at home on a friday night to just read or write. She would much rather do those things, than go out and besides it's not like anyone would ask her out. Mostly people think she’s a bit weird and odd and try to avoid her. Mac doesn’t really mind and she even understands why people would do that. She talks to herself a lot, even in public, when she’s talking to someone she sometimes skips to French or starts quoting some writer randomly.
The friends she does have are mostly male, because the girls really think she’s weird because she doesn’t care for the way she looks and doesn’t wear make up and is just not interested in any of the things that they are interested in. And when her friends are girls, they share her perspective and don’t like the normal girl things either.
But for the most part, Mac likes to be alone, by herself, to just be quiet and at peace with her own thoughts and not have someone rambling through her thoughts as she is trying to read or write.
Journal
Mac's journal is top secret, even from her brother Franklin. She carries it with her everywhere she goes and no one really knows what she writes in there. However, she knows that if anyone ever stole her journal and read it, that they would find something on every single person in the entire school. She loves to observe and everything she sees she writes in her journal. She knows that it could insult people and that’s why she makes sure that no one ever gets a hold of it. She takes it with her to school, and has it under her pillow when she sleeps. In her journal are her darkest secrets, greatest desires, dreams, wishes, fears and everything that anyone could ever want to know about her. But not only that, whenever she discovers something about someone, she writes it in her journal. There’s at least one page in there on everyone that she’s ever met, some people might think this is odd and maybe a bit like a stalker, but it helps her understand people better when she writes things down. Once she writes something down it’s out of her mind, it’s her way of calming her constantly crowded mind.

Positive Traits:
Determined
Once Mac sets her mind to something, she will not turn back until she reaches her goal. For a while this side of her was lost because of her brother’s death. But now that she’s at the university she’s regained this side of herself and she never backs down until she gets what she wants. This helps in her journalism because she is so eager for information.
Caring
When you first meet Mac this will not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of her. But in fact Mac is one of the sweetest and caring girls out there. She just hates showing it. She fears that as soon as she lets someone back into her life they will be taken away. But once she trusts you and she feels like she can open up you will her caring side.
Independent
Mac believes that she in complete within herself, though of course she still misses the empty spot that her brother left behind. But she likes being one her own and she enjoys being along. She feels like she can doe everything by herself.
Negative Traits:
Closed off
Mac is afraid to let anyone into her mind and into her life. After losing her brother she has felt alone and feared losing anyone that came close to her. She wants to get over this, but it’s just so difficult for her that she doesn’t think that she ever will.
Curious
This is both a positive and a negative trait of hers, but for now we’ll just put it at negative. Because sometimes she goes too far in wanting to find the truth behind something. She is so eager to know everything about everyone that she sometimes forgets that not everyone wants to share their pasts and their feelings.
Secretive
Mac loves to know everything about everyone, but she hates it when people want to know about her. When someone asks her something she tries to avoid the question, be as vague as possible. She just doesn’t like sharing things about her life. It why she wears long jeans and long sleeves all throughout the year, because she knows what kind of questions will come from someone seeing her scars.
Greatest Ambition: To get over her fear of letting someone get close to her and to have at least one article in the New York times before she’s 25.
Greatest Fear: Losing someone else that is very close to her. Also she fears letting people getting close to her in general, but that is because she is so afraid of losing them like she lost Franklin.

`History ,,
The early nineties, two people from different places in the world, different places in rank, different places in their life, met and fell in love.
Grace Corner, a prom queen, coming from a perfect and fairly rich white family. She grew up on the Upper East Side, knowing all the good fortune that life could bring.
And then there was Christopher Harper, a high school drop-out, coming from a poor and dysfunctional black family. He grew up in the Bronx, knowing poverty like no other.
But when these two people met, they didn’t care about their differences, they were in love and that was all that mattered. They married and though at first it didn’t seem like it would happen, Grace her family accepted the poor black boy into their family. The rest of their neighbourhood thought it was weird and they weren’t accepted, Grace suffered a great deal of this, but she couldn’t leave the love of her life. Before she knew it, she was pregnant.
January 5th, in the middle of a cold and stormy winter the young newlywed couple, Grace and Christopher Phillips, were in their car on their way to the hospital as Grace had just gone into labour. But due to the great amounts of snow that had been falling for days, the couple couldn't get to the hospital in time. There was no other way, the twins that she was carrying were not going to wait another minute to get out and get their breath or pure air. She was quickly moved to the backseat and Christopher tried his best to what ever he could for his wife. Within minutes the twins were born and the ambulance came quickly to take the newborn babies to the hospital. They were perfectly healthy and nothing seemed to be wrong with them, however there was something very odd about them. The girl, named Mackenzie Grace, was a perfect pale white skinned happy little baby. And the boy, named Franklin Christopher, was however, a perfect dark skinned happy little baby. This event of a black and a white was rare, and both parents were shocked. They knew that this wasn’t going to be easy for them, or for the children, but they thought it would all turn out alright.
Mackenzie and Franklin grew up as two perfect little happy children, though Mackenzie started to have trouble with her mother from about the time that she was five. Her mother was so thrilled to have a little girl, wanting to change her into a little copy of herself, wanting her to wear pretty dresses and lots of pink. Mackenzie, nicknamed Mac, however, had different ideas for how she was going to dress and act. Whenever her mother put her in something that even slightly looked like a dress, she would go outside and roll in the mud, or just go upstairs and wear something of her brother’s. This was stressing her mother out more than anything, and she was determined to turn Mac into a pretty little girl and she wasn’t going to stop no matter how much Mac objected to it. One day Grace took her little girl to get her ear pierced, hoping that it would somehow help her to realise that she was indeed a girl and not a tomboy. Of course, this didn’t work out the way Grace had planned, they pierced one ear and then Mac ran out before they could do her other ear. After this Mac became even closer to her father than she already was. Which was difficult for her because her father was black and she was white, making it every difficult for people to understand that they are father and daughter.
Everything seemed to be absolutely perfect in this little family, not counting the mother’s frustration with Mac. However, when Peyton and Franklin were eight, Franklin started going down hill. He was tired all the time and hardly went to school, Harper was so worried about her little brother and no one really knew what was going on. She was only eight at the time so she really didn’t understand what could be wrong, but she just knew that something was very wrong with her brother and it was bigger than everyone thought. You hear about this bond between twins a lot and with Franklin and Harper that was definitely the case, they could always sense things about each other. When finally the doctors found out what was wrong with Franklin, Mac didn’t know what to do, she didn’t understand what was wrong with him. The doctors found out that he had cancer, leukaemia. Of course, neither of them really knew what this was, they just knew that Franklin was sick and that he had to get better.
Years went by and Franklin had his up and downs during his illness. Harper was there for him every step of the way, always holding hands while he was getting chemo and sometimes when the nurses would let she would spend the night with him in the hospital when took a bad turn. So many times she was sure that she was going to lose him, it felt all wrong to see him like that, but every time he survived and got better.
But then the tragic day came, the one they had all been fearing for year. Mac and Franklin were eleven and they had just spend yet another day at the hospital. Mac was down the hall, fighting with the candymachine when she suddenly felt weird, this strange panic feeling came over her as she rushed to Franklin's room. When she got there she was already being pushed away by doctors as they tried to restart his heart.
They doctors failed and Franklin passed away due to complications and because he was weak because of the chemo.
Mac was heartbroken, she felt like she had lost a part of herself and in a way she had. Franklin was everything to her, he understood her, he was the only one that really knew her for what she was. She lost the one person that was more important to her than anything else in the world. Her parents watched as Mac slowly decaded into darkness over the loss of her brother. This even made Mac start to cut herself, she had so much pain that she wanted a different kind of pain. Years went by and no one even noticed. If there’s one thing that Mac is great at it’s hiding. When it was time for her to go to college, her parents found the Washington university for the arts and Mac had always been writing so it seemed like a logical choice. Mac didn’t want to go, but as soon as she arrived there for her freshman year she felt better. She hasn’t cut herself since, though she has many scars on her arms and on her legs. even.

She hasn’t cut herself since, though she has many scars on her arms and on her legs. even.
Best Memory: Her first day at the university. She just felt at home from that first day and felt like she could start a new life. And no longer dwell in the past.
Worst Memory: Her brother dying. This was turning point in her life, since then she hasn’t been the same. She feels like a part of her is missing and with him she kind of died as well. She is still really sad about his death and she never really found a healthy to deal with it.

She wasn’t enjoying his questions, his pressing for the truth for more information. She had stopped bugging him about it, then why was he pressuring her to tell him something? Was he still looking for something to keep his mind busy, for something to distract him from the fact that she was still holding onto his cigarettes? Either way, whatever the reason behind his questions was she really didn’t want to tell him. He wouldn’t understand what had happened, how could he? Of course she couldn’t really know how he would react. Not only didn’t she know him, but she had never told anyone. She had no idea how anyone would react to her depressing, dramatic and maybe even slightly pathetic story depending on who was listening to it.
She was pondering on what to tell him. Thinking that maybe she should just tell him what he wanted to hear and be done with it. But why should she tell a guy that she knew nothing about and had just met about her boyfriend dying in a car accident and that she had spent several weeks in the hospital because of that same accident. That night was so clear in her memory that she could still hear the other car crashing into theirs, and she could still feels herself being pulled into several directions at once.
It didn’t matter if it had been days or weeks, months even years. She would always remember every single second of that night. How she crawled out of the car, how she held Matthew close to her, begging him not to leave her. She could still hear him whispering to her, asking her to move on. Telling her not to let her life go by because he wasn’t in it anymore. Mac didn’t want to hear it, she just told him that he was going to survive and that they would still get out of New York together. Eventually she just starting singing to him, hoping that it would calm him some how and also calm herself. Whenever they spend the night in Central Park they would write music and she would sing to him as he played his guitar. He always said that he loved to hear her sing. She hadn’t sung ever since that night.
She kept her eyes on the people standing, waiting to get into some random club and having fun. She ran her hands through her brown hair, it was getting a bit greasy because she kept running her hands through it, and then shoved her hands back into her pockets. As she tilted her head she noticed him doing the same. She sighed softly, still wondering what she was supposed to tell him. She couldn’t tell him the entire story, like she had said the night was too short for her entire pathetic story. And he probably wouldn’t care for it either, or remember the next day. Of course she couldn’t be sure of it, but he seemed like the kind of guy that would just get wasted and wake up somewhere random, not remembering how he had gotten there.
There was no other possibility that she saw besides just telling him at least part of the truth. He apparently saw it when she was lying, or when she wasn’t telling him the entire story. She could give him something, perhaps he would stop pressuring her about it, or even better, maybe he would give her some information in return. “I used to write music, actually I wrote the lyrics” she began. She kept her eyes on the ground, running her hand through her hair every now and then. “He wrote the music and played guitar, while I wrote the lyrics and… sang” Was he seriously interested in this? She sighed before continuing. Tilting her head slightly to look up at him and watch him to see if he had really been interested or was still just looking for a distracting. “Only, he isn’t part of my life anymore so I stopped writing”
As she listened to what she said she realised that it sounded like her boyfriend had just broken up with her. She wished it had been just that that would have been easy to get over. But she wasn’t going to tell Kenneth about Matthew dying in her arms just yet, maybe later if he really wanted to know. And maybe if he would finally tell her the truth.
