what's my cue? - - - - - - - - “Imagine how fashionable an angry mob wearing feather boas must be, that could explain why they’re so angry” Allen was so happy he’d gone past the café today, he hadn’t been able to get to know too many people and now he got to hang out with someone actually interesting to talk too. “Good point, use the school address for the simple legal stuff and for the naughty illegal stuff use Yahoo just as was always intended” though he never sent files over the net anyway, he never really had a need to. “Well if nothing else you get free coffee, who can say no to that?” It sounded logical to him, if there were free things on offer he always believed that they should be taken. Plus it’d be a cheap excuse to hand out with Charlie more and he was all for that.
Allen certainly had to agree with Charlies feelings about frat parties, “Exactly, it’s less of a party and more a cheap orgy with masks. I mean don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong about a cheap orgy with masks but at least be honest about it. If they had the cojones to say that it was a Halloween masquerade orgy I think it’d be a lot better” Allen had always been one to prefer honesty, call a spade a spade and all that claptrap “So if I were to get you rip roaring drunk you might go there… actually on second thoughts that’d mean I’d have to be sober and being sober and putting up with frat guys is a one way ticket to therapy”. Allen tried so hard not to blush and he managed it but only just when Charlie referred to his charm, he’d never gotten a compliment before from another gay guy before, it was certainly good for his confidence level. “OK then will do, I’ll say sorry so often you’ll be sorry that you ever gave me permission to say sorry”
Allen smiled lightly, “Tell me about it, if my gaydar was any good it would have saved me months of heartbreak” he said, actually laughing for the first time ever about the one guy he’d had a crush on. Being able to laugh about it was something he’d hoped would happen one day for so long and now he was actually able to laugh about it, he owed Charlie big time for that. “Never ever ever. I haven’t even dated which sucks royally. I had one crush in high school on my best friend, who I kissed which made me realise I was gay. Though that didn’t end quite as nice as I’d hoped it would” it was a long story but he knew for most people it’d be boring so he chose to skip the details “Long story short I got a broken nose from the school jock and the guy never talked to me again so my track record with guys is so far non-existent” the laughter from earlier truly stopped “I think you’ll agree, after getting beaten up by the school jock because of a kiss, it fells oddly like everyone is saying ‘hey, you’ve got to hide your love away’ all the freaking time. So I didn’t even try and get out there and meet any guys” he realised he was babbling but he couldn’t stop himself, it was like a sickness “OK that was probably a little more information than you wanted wasn’t it?” he said with a nervous chuckle.
Allen got up and threw his paper cup in the nearby bin, throwing it from a few feet away and making it in “He shoot’s he scores” he said triumphantly before going back to his seat “That was definitely a good drink… I might get another one after I get my books” that’s when he remembered “Oh right I came here for books, then got caught up in awesome music it’s all coming back to me… Ahh I’ll do it later, having to fun right now to bother” he said with a smile. He didn’t often get the option of talking to a friend, most of his old friends were back in Iowa so he was going to milk this conversation for all it had. “So, just to make sure I don’t do something stupid, is there a guy on campus you’re seeing? Figure if I know then I’ll know he’s off limits which will save so much time and confusion”

- - - - - - - - Charlie honestly couldn't believe this. Maybe it was because he'd been so comfortable with his sexuality for so long, but really, Allen's situation was mindboggling. He'd always been confident and willing to go out and get what he wanted. He was sure, however, that it was not the same with everyone. He knew that he was dating guys just as soon as he was sure he was what he thought he was. At the same time, his family and friends were rather supportive. They never shot him down. Plus, he'd never had a crush on anyone he knew beforehand. So maybe it was different. "I guess that's right though. I've never been beaten up though. I suppose it's all with how you go about things. But I suppose I can understand where you're coming from. And no, no, it's fine. You can say whatever you'd like." "Actually, you might go ahead and get those books. I have a class soon." He frowned and glanced up at the clock behind the counter. "Well, not a class. But I have to go turn in an essay I got an extension on. Music theory and all." He shrugged and squeezed and the edges of his empty cup. He'd throw it away on his way out, right now he was busy crushing the edges to bits. "What?" Charlie as for clarification but before he could give Allen a chance to repeat himself he answered. "Oh, no. Not currently. Have who you will." He smiled and let out a short laugh.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

what's my cue? - - - - - - - - Allen had always tried to be honest about who he was and about his sexuality but he never felt the need or indeed wanted to wear it on his sleeve. After how people had reacted to it in high school he was almost afraid to be open about it, worried that maybe something bad would happen if he did. He respected people like Charlie who were able to be confident about it but that was just one of the areas of his life where Allen’s confidence severely was lacking. He wondered if maybe talking to Charlie, actually spending time near him might help Allen gain some of that confidence. He could hope at least. “Voice of experience, it’s not fun. In fact see my nose” he said pointing to his slightly crooked smeller “That jocky guy that beat me up for that kiss broke it, been like that ever since. Anything I like huh? You do realise that giving me that permission will come back to haunt you?”
“Oh classes… evil things. You’d think we were in school or something” he tried to joke and felt instantly like his attempt at humor failed, but he was often wrong about that sort of thing. He smiled a little on the inside, the knowledge that Charlie not only was single but wasn’t currently having the hots for any guy was a good sigh for Allen. It might give him a hope in hell chance but he’d wait to see if that was a possibility “Or more to the point have who will have me” he added standing up and stretching his legs. He knew the books weren’t going to find themselves sadly so he’d have to do a little work to find them “Well then I guess I’ll see you around campus and whenever you play here again” he said holding out his hand “Was really great to see you” he said trying to be polite

- - - - - - - - Charlie was the exact opposite. He actually preffered for people to know up front his sexual preference. He did hate that sometimes it made people judge him before actually getting to know him, but oh well. It was going to happen no matter what, if they knew at the beginning or if they found out later. That stereotypical judgement that came with being gay knew no friend. "Ouch." Charlie mumbled upon inspecting Allen's nose further. Yeah, he really didn't ever want to have to deal with something like that. "It probably will, but apparently I like giving myself tons of trouble. Just be kind." Charlie offered a smile and stood up, picking up his empty cup to take with him. "I know, right? And it's like they actually want us to do work. What torture." Chuckling, he shifted around the table and tossed the cup into the trash can. "Then I guess I'll see you around, Allen. It was really nice to meet you. Maybe we'll see each other back at Brennen Hall. Who knows? Good luck with your books and whatnot. See you around."[/blockquote][/blockquote]
