Name: Delilah Audrey Manning
Nickname(s): Delly, Del, Dee, whatever, she loves nicknames!
Degree: Art
Major: Dance
Minor: Shakespeare
Age: Eighteen
Grade: Freshman
Birthdate: April 1st
Orientation: Heterosexual
Location: Chicago, Illinois
`Appearance !
OVERALL
At first glance, you might think that Delilah is pretty plain-looking. She's not gorgeous, but most would not say she's bad to look at, either. Delilah is a pretty average girl. Average height, average looks; and she really does not mind. Delilah is 5 foot, 5 inches, more towards the short side than tall, but her doctor keeps telling her not to worry, she's average, especially for a dancer. She weighs 122 pounds.
FACE/HAIR
Her face is a little on the oval side. She has nice cheekbones, she's been told, and a smallish nose. She's fair-skinned but tans easily, and sometimes gets sunburns during the summer as well. Her teeth, thanks to a junior-high full of orthodontic treatment, are straight and white, which she loves. Her hair is brown and naturally slightly wavy. In the summer, she sometimes acquires light brown streaks in her hair, but it evens out during fall and winter and is usually just plain brown. It is easy to maintain, despite being long, but sometimes gets tangles in it like most other peoples' hair does. Her eyes are what she considers her best feature, after her smile. They're a warm, chocolatey brown color, deep as pools of water, and when she smiles she thinks they give her a very friendly look.
POSTURE
Being a dancer, posture is something Delilah is very aware of. She grew up taking ballet and tap (she loved ballet more than anything, except maybe her puppy) and was constantly reminded to keep her back straight, her shoulders back but relaxed, and her body extended to her fullest height. Especially now, when she has taken on dancing as a serious career, she is fully aware of her posture all the time. You'll see herself automatically correcting herself from time to time if she's slouching.
STYLE
Being a dancer, Delilah knows to wear whatever she feels is comfortable. If she's feeling lazy or just walking around campus, she'll wear jeans and a t-shirt with a sweater, or maybe just sweatpants and a shirt or sweatshirt. She isn't very self-conscious about what she wears, so you'll often find her walking around campus in a camisole and shorts, or in her pajamas if it's very urgent and she just doesn't have time to change. She loves getting dressed up, but only once in a while because she feels that getting dressed up all the time is a waste of the excitement.

Best Feature: "Well... if I absolutely had to choose something, it would probably be... my eyes. I love the color. Most people think brown is boring, but... I don't know why, I love brown eyes!"
Worst Feature: "My height. I know that I'm average for a dancer, and I'm not that short, but I'm shorter than a lot of people and I'd love it if I was just an inch or two taller."
`Personality !
HELPFUL
Are you in trouble? Do you have a problem you just need guidance with, or do you need some advice? Delilah will be there, ready to help you with whatever it is. It's in her nature. She's compelled to offer her help with everything. Something draws her to people who are in a sticky situation. She likes offering what she can to the world, changing it even in the small ways that she does: by making people a little bit happier, by helping out.
DEDICATED
When Delilah decides to do something, she does it through to the end. She is sure of her decisions and makes sure she finishes what she starts. Nothing can distract her when she sets her mind on what she wants to do. She sets aside time for that particular thing and time for everything else: friends, parties, whatever else there is to do. When she makes something top priority, it is top priority.
FRIENDLY
Delilah attracts people like honey attracts bees. It's not just nice people, though. Her 'Little Miss Sunshine' outlook on life and always-helpful personality annoy some people, too, and that brings on enemies. But even if an acquaintance isn't her very best friend, she makes time for them. She'll keep the tiniest friendships, even long distance friendships, and value them all, because the way she looks at it, each person has something to offer, and each person is worth it.

Positive Traits:
-Outgoing: Delilah likes being with people. She's a people person, and you can tell by the way she'll say hi to even that shy kid who everyone ignores who sits alone. She has friendships with a lot of people, even tiny friendships, and tries to maintain them without hurting the other person's feelings.
-Trustworthy: Got a secret? Well, you know there's one person you can tell. Delilah has only told a secret a few times, and definitely regrets it, so she tries to be the best secret-keeper she can be and never let anyone down.
-Optimistic: When you're feeling down, come to Delilah. She'll always find the best of a situation. Is it raining? "Hey, everything will be watered, it'll be green and flowery tomorrow. And we can go hideout in Beetles or something later to escape the rain." Get a bad grade on a test? "That teacher is forgiving; go see if they'll let you retake it."
-Mature: Over the years, being dedicated and serious to one thing for a long time, she's grown more mature and able to handle things. She doesn't throw tantrums, she's learned not to cry so easily, and she understands things she didn't before. Even her parents have noticed changes in her. She's more reasonable and sensible.
Negative Traits:
-Sensitive: Yes, Delilah is not one of those people who fights back. When you dish out insults, she'll probably just take them and then go talk to a friend who'll help her out instead of trying to get you back.
-Innocent: It's easy to take advantage of Delilah. She's very innocent and doesn't know when anyone is lying. She rarely does anything bad, unless convinced to by her friends, and is a big pushover.
-Worrysome: This isn't so much about everything as about her friends. She looks out for her friends, she treats them like her family. If anything were to happen to any of them, she doesn't know what she would do, so she does her best to make sure they stay safe.
Greatest Ambition: To have a serious dancing career, specifically ballet.
Greatest Fear: That she'll injure her knee or any part of her leg seriously so it affects her dancing.
`History !
"No, honey, this is not an April Fool's joke. I am going into labor!" Talia Victoria Manning's voice came in short breaths on the phone to Matthew Peter Manning as she was rushed to the hospital. Approximately seven hours later, at 6:02 PM, Delilah Audrey Manning was born. Her parents always teased her about being born on April Fool's Day, and the story about how her father thought her mother was playing a prank on him when she called him at his office is one of her favorites.
Delilah was a playful child. She was always on the move, never wanting to sit still. She loved jumping and spinning and imitating dancers on television. When she was four years old, her mother took her to her first dance class (a small, local place that was cheap, as her mother thought it would just be a little stage of hers), she was enthralled by the pink leotards and tights, the delicate ballet slippers and the graceful movements of the older ballerinas. She hoped that one day she would be as coordinated, as able to dance as they were. Dance at a young age in the toddler's program was simple for her. She kept with it in that same school, loving every class. At age twelve, after taking dance at the local place for nine years, her mother decided that (after careful observation) her daughter was really serious about dancing.
At age thirteen, she enrolled her in Anya Petrova's School of Dance. Delilah was thrilled, and after an intense audition process, her letter came: she was in! She started there that year. After one look at petite Delilah, all the older girls (her class was ages 12-15) started laughing. In the changing room, as she put on her pointe shoes which she had worked so hard to earn, they all picked on her. "You? Dance? I don't think so, Pipsqueak," one girl had said, towering over her. Delilah had ignored her, not knowing what to say. When they saw her dancing, they all shut up.
She quickly excelled in the dance school, and during high school she found room for both. She helped the younger girls in her class, remembering how she had been teased when she first started. Instead of being the intimidating teacher's favorite, Delilah was the sweet teacher's helper. She quickly learned to balance her studying, her social life, and her dancing.
That was when she met Lachlan. She was so in love with him during high school. It was so hard to find a boy in her school who was a dancer and who wasn't ashamed of it, either. The two were split apart during high school, but Delilah promised to wait for him, and him for her.
Too bad that was one promise she couldn't keep. She couldn't help it. He was handsome, and charming, and he had a sense of humor. Best of all, he was from her dance school, too: they starred in their ballet school's production of Sleeping Beauty together. And... she felt guilty every minute of it.
When she was accepted to SBU, she was overjoyed: she would get to see Lachlan again! But now that she has to face the guilt of breaking that promise... she's thinking twice about her excitement.

Best Memory:
CURTAIN CALL When Anya had asked her to star in Sleeping Beauty, she was ecstatic! The costumes she would get to wear, the difficult choreography she would have to master. The feeling of triumph she got at the end compared to nothing. When she did the final curtain call with everyone else who had participated in the show, she felt warmth fill her heart. Her fellow dancers were her family.
Worst Memory:
BROKEN PROMISES Knowing that she was breaking that promise she had make to Lachlan two years ago when she broke it... it made her feel more guilty than she ever had. Especially since she knew this boy would not last forever, would not love her the way Lachlan had. She still feels guilty about it, and nervous about facing Lachlan.
