Excitable. Creative. Dirty.
Name: Mavis Cyann Ophelia England
Nickname(s): May, Ophie, Ophelia, Cy, Cyann, England.
Major: Theatre
Age: Eighteen
Grade: Freshmen
Birthdate: July 4th, 1991
Orientation: Straight/heterosexual.
Location: Ponca City, Oklahoma.
`Appearance ,,
Her favorite – and, in her opinion, only not absolutely horrible – feature of her own is her hair. Falling in thick bright red curls when it's untamed, it's soft, silky, not too big and does more or less precisely what she wants it too. Her only semi-rational beef with it is that it isn't red enough.
She's got dark blue that look black from every other angle but directly from the front, and a slender, some-what lanky body - although she has no unusual height to speak of.
The most outstanding thing about Mavis' appearance is what she does with it. To put it simply, she's very creative with her body. Although she has no tattoos or piercings - she's positively terrified of needles, although she is trying to work herself up to the idea of earrings - she doesn't need jewelry like that to make herself look unusual.
She can usually be found in things from thrift stores and, although she could afford it, rarely buys anything new, but doesn't exactly avoid it. She dresses mainly in bright colors, but even a statement like that can't always hold true for Mavis. Her style changes from day to day, and some day's it striking, some days it's just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. The only thing that holds true for Mavis' sense of style, is that if what she's wearing happens to intercept with the current trend - it's only because she happens to like the current trend.
Her make-up and hair is just as crazy, and falls under just the same unreasonable, untraceable patterns. Again, she's traditionally attracted to bright, eye-catching colors, but certainly knows how to put on nice, smoky eyeshadow or thick eyeliner. She's been asked several times if it's stage make-up and the same goes for her hair. You can be assured, though, that if Mavis is wearing it, Mavis likes it... But she probably thinks it would look better on you.

Best Feature:"Easily my hair. It's soft, sometimes, and always does precisely what I want it to. And it's red! And, actually, it's pretty much the only good physical thing about me..."
Worst Feature:"Everything but my hair. No, really. But if I had to pick something... Ummm. My face. Does that count as one thing?"
`Personality ,,
Excitable
Sort of going hand-in-hand with being easy to please, Mavis is extremely excitable. Oh, yay! It's the first day of classes. Oh, yay! It's the second day of classes!' As such, she's guaranteed to be one of the perkiest, most enthusiastic students at the school. Along with this and although her jokes and language hint at a dirtier existence, Mavis is very much the stereotypical naïve goody-goody little school girl. She hasn't done drugs, smoked, drank any considerable amount, or had sex in her life and – the first two, at least – she never intends to do.
Creative
One thing about Mavis is that she's extremely creative. Then again, perhaps creative isn't the word for it, but if it isn't, I don't know what is. The most immediately noticeable way that she's creative is the way she presents herself, which you'll probably have already read about in the appearance section. Otherwise, though, she looks at life creatively, in an out-of-the-box way. She's that annoying type of girl that won't say the cup is half-empty or half-full; why don't you just go ahead and fill it or empty it already? She also likes to decorate things – anything and everything that isn't moving, and most of the things that are, too. Her “little box of wonders”, which is really just full of crafting goods and sits under her bed, is under-stocked and over-used. Fabric – beware; you're likely to get bejeweled.
Dirty
One of her personality traits that people are always surprised by is her dirtiness. Mavis has an incredibly dirty mind. She can turn nearly anything into a dirty joke and often does. Along with that, she also has a surprisingly dirty mouth. Although she rarely actually says f**k, she uses all the other swear words quite often and, well, creatively. It's just a second nature to her, and she doesn't mean to be offensive; it's just what she does.

Positive Traits:
-Her creativity. Mavis can make the dullest, most ordinary thing interesting and wonderful and - usually - glittery.
-Her friendliness. She will attempt to be friends with anyone, simply because she likes being around people. That's really all there is to it.
-She's so easily-entertained, there's probably a scientific term for it. She's never, ever bored and, therefore, it's very hard to be bored around her.
Negative Traits:
-She has a mouth like a sailor. Although she can tone it down, she rarely thinks the situation is important enough to do so. You can easily make her stop - by telling her to do so, but you're probably gonna end up hurting her feelings as a result.
-Her insecurities. She thinks she's the worst thing, ever, and can find nothing good about herself except her hair - and she's not even very happy with that, all the time.
-Her selfishness. She doesn't intend to be, but she can be rather self-centered at times.
Greatest Ambition: To be a famous, good (thought being the keywords) actor one day.
Greatest Fear: Regrets. It might sound cliche, but more than anything, Mavis is afraid of being on her deathbed and having regrets.
`History ,,
Late on the evening of July 4th in 1991, Mavis Ophelia Cyann England was born to her very happy, first-time parents. They'd been trying for her for nine years, but due to complications with Susan's - Mavis' mother - ovaries, they fought long and hard, and almost resorted to adoption. In fact, when they - Susan and Mavis' father, Mark - found out that Susan was pregnant with Mavis, they decided they would also adopt a little girl from China, giving her the happiness they knew they now shared. But, as they stood in the hospital with little Mavis in Susan's arm, Mavis has been told all her life that the following conversation ensued.
“Do you still want another?” Mark said.
“Child? No.” Susan's replied, smiling down at her newborn daughter. “This one's perfect.”
And so, Mavis was brought into the world thinking she was perfect.
She grew up in a well to-do family. Money was never tight, privileges were always easy to attain and constant, and they never had to worry about mortgage payments or rent bills. At the end of Mavis' third grade year, the little family picked up and moved to a tiny little town called White Salmon, Washington. Although Mavis was excited about the idea of moving, her fourth grade year was the worst of her life. She had no friends of any real worth for an entire year, and cried herself to sleep nearly every night. From that point on, she swore she would never, ever let herself be friendless. If her life depended on it; she'd find somebody.
Fourth grade did bring two good things, though, and those good things were truly the best things she could ask for. Acting and singing – in order of importance. In her town in Oklahoma, acting wasn't an option, but in White Salmon, with what she referred to as “artsy fartsy people” there were theatre groups and singing opportunities abound. She tried out for everything she could, and got a part in nearly everything she tried out for – and what she didn't, she worked back stage, trying to learn as much as she could.
Growing up with her mother as her best friend through it all, she had trouble making the decision to come to WSU of A when she found out about it - it was so far from home. She sent in her portfolio anyway and was accepted... Mavis couldn't turn the opportunity down. So here she is, happy to be here, but writing long, diary-entry like letters to her mother every night.

Best Memory: "I've always hated this question! There are so many fantastic things I've done before. I grew up in a pretty well-to-do family, and we did so many exciting things together and apart and I had so many opportunities most kids my age didn't. But I'd have to say that the opening night of my very first play is my best memory. It was a little production, done in just a week with a bunch of kids by a travelling group who were helping us put it on. It was The Jungle Book, and all I was was Wolf Cub number three, but the applause and the lights and... I loved it. It was so fantastic. It was everything I'd ever wanted."
Worst Memory: "This is another really hard question. I've had a pretty fantastic life, and I try so hard to make everything seem perfect in my mind even if it isn't in real life... So, actually, I can't even really answer this question!"

`Writing Skill ,,
Mavis groaned, running her hands through her hair nervously, making the already crazy knot of curly, dark hair even crazier.
Actually, speaking of crazy things, this was crazy. It hadn't seemed too out of the question when the teacher suggested it; find four scripts that you've never heard of before, with a character you'd like to play in it, then write a five paragraph essay for each script about why you want to play that character.
Well, okay, it did sound crazy - but she did have a month to do it in. How hard could it be?
But no, of course not. Here she was, a week before it was due, looking at an aisle or two of scripts in the library that had already been rampaged by the other students in her class and now only consisted of such classics as "The Wizard of Oz", "Arsenic and Old Lace", "The Lion King" and such. Of course, there were still a few lesser-known scripts left; things like, "Mulan", or "Off the Map", but, being the hard-to-satisfy student of drama that she was, she knew nearly all of them already. The few that she didn't know looked a little bit dodgy and badly written, but those would have to do. No matter how long she stood here and looked at this shelf, she still would know the story of Mulan by heart.
Picking up a good dozen titles, and heaping them haphazardly into her arms, she headed briskly for an empty table - before the stack started swaying. Frantically - she did not want to pick all these shit-head titles up again - she dropped them onto the nearest table, where they splayed out like playing cards. A girl sat there already, looking her age, maybe a little older, head buried in her book. Mavis blushed the shade of her tomato red eye-shadow, (which was oh-so-artistically mixed with gold mascara and plum eye-liner), and smiled awkwardly, even though the girl wasn't looking at her.
"Erm... Mind if I sit here? I'll keep real quiet, if you'd rather." She shot the girl another shit-eating grin. And, hoping to claim the spot as her own - the library had grown awfully crowded in the time she'd spent staring down "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" - and pulled off her coat, draping it over the chair across from the girl. "I just really need somewhere to sit and absolutely have to get this work done." And with that, she sat unceremoniously down, laid her purse in her lap, and began digging for the paper and pen she just knew she'd put in there when she left her dorm this morning. "I'm Mavis, by the way," she added, coming up with only a note-pad and a hot pink gel pen. Realizing that that would have to do - and that she wasn't keeping her promise of 'keeping real quiet', she closed her mouth and opened up a slightly yellow-stained script entitled "Reunion.
