All trapped in, can't do a thing because I'm locked down [/i] Who's to say she's single And who's to say she's on her own[/font][/b] Andrew Barret had known for a while now that he wasn’t the luckiest person on earth. Sure, he was pretty intelligent and did really well in school, but his social intelligence could easily be compared to that of an owl. Hell, sometimes he even believed that owls had better social skills than he did. Right now he was surrounded by people. A lot of them. And still he felt like he was all alone in the world, because the one person he really wanted to talk to wasn’t there.
Earlier that day he had met Ella Torres by the coffee cart and they had talked for the first time ever. Like actually talked and not just some awkward mumbling from Andrew’s side that she either ignored (that’s what he thought, why would a girl like Ella Torres even take notice of someone like him) or maybe she just didn’t hear him. He wasn’t sure, but today it had been different. He had bought her coffee and he had even made her laugh at some point in their conversation. But off course he had to screw it all up – he was Andrew after all and he couldn’t run from being a complete failure at all times. As soon as there had been a small, silent break in their conversation where Andrew didn’t know what to say and his coffee cup was empty, so he couldn’t just drink off it as an excuse for the silence, he had randomly invited her to a party in his house later that night. It had been awkward, out of the blue, stupid. Especially since there was no party in his house later that night. At least not yet.
It was at time as these that Andrew thanked God that he had friends like Lachlan. Without him Andrew would have been inviting Ella Torres home to an empty house and she would probably find out that he was a freak. Off course she would realize it sooner or later anyways, but he just wanted to talk a bit more with her, before she found out. Maybe, just maybe, she would find it cute? Yeah right. Not in a chance in hell. Andrew thought and sighed as he rose from his seat in the couch and tried to make his way through the crowded room. Most of people were already pretty drunk and dancing to the music blasting from the speakers. Music that Andrew didn’t even know he owned. The air was thick of sweat and alcohol. Andrew himself had a half-empty, warm beer in his hand. He had hoped that a drink or two would give him more courage to speak to Ella Torres (Yeah, he always thought of her as Ella Torres instead of just Ella, just because she was that special) when he saw her. If she even came. She probably wouldn’t come. Everyone who was there now was some of Lachlan and Deliah’s friends. People who probably didn’t even know who he was.
But Andrew hadn’t even been able to even empty the beer in his hand yet. He was too nervous. Not only because of the fact that he would maybe later talk to Ella Torres, but also because there were so many people around him that he just didn’t know. Everyone who knew Andrew knew that he wasn’t fitted for social events such as parties. Never had been, never would be, that’s just how it was. After making his way around a half naked couple who were making out on the dance floor, he finally reached the hall way. He put his beer down on a table and walked towards the door. He needed some fresh air and he needed it now. But in the moment he opened the door and rushed out he collided with someone who was on their way into the house. He was just about to apologize, especially when his hand accidently brushed the shoulder of the person, when he saw it was Ella Torres. ”Ella,” He said simply, feeling as if his tongue made knots and he couldn’t speak.

* ella the awkward ! i've just seen a face i cant forget the time or place where we've just met.
Ella was not the sort of girl who accepted party invitations from near strangers. In fact, she was the exact opposite of a girl who accepted such invitations. In any other situation she would have said a flat out no. Without even any moment’s thought. Just a straight out no. So why was now any different? Well in to be completely and honestly truthful it was Charlie. The moment Andrew had mentioned the party she had seen Charlie’s face in her mind’s eye. Telling her that if she did not accept this cute and seemingly sweet boy’s offer she was completely daft. And really, how could she argue with the Charlie voice in her head? Not when she knew the scolding she’d get from the real Charlie if he found out she said no.
Normally for this sort of event she would have dragged Charlie with her. He was her safety blanket in awkward social situations. As long as he didn’t find some cute boy to chace after they could have fun in just about any situation. Even after growing up together, they still found plenty to entertain themselves with. They never got bored of each other. Sometimes annoyed as hell at each other but that was a different story. And had nothing to do with why she hadn’t forced Charlie into coming with her. It was just, it would seem odd to bring a boy along.
Not that she thought it was a date or anything. No. Oh god no. Just because the boy bought her a coffee didn’t mean anything. He was just a nice guy and she didn’t want to stretch his hospitality by bringing along an un-invited guest. It would have been really rude of her. So she hadn’t even told Charlie. Partly so he wouldn’t be upset he couldn’t tag along but partly so he didn’t make a big deal out of it. Because it wasn’t a big deal. Nope. Not in the slightest. Even if the two and a half hours she took getting ready lost her credibility a little.
She liked someone else. She liked Hunter. So how could it be a big deal? Well, just because she liked him didn’t mean she couldn’t like Andrew. Or be attracted to him. Or something like that. No. He was just a nice guy. That was it. She was just making friends. That was all. Thinking of it as anything other then just a friends thing made Ella nervous and she was already nervous enough as it was. The idea of walking into a room full of strangers had Ella plotzing. Let alone adding the idea of it being a potentially romantic situation. Ella was not good in romantic situations.
The dark haired young woman glanced down at the address Andrew had written down on a scrap of paper. She was fairly certain she was heading down the right street but she wanted to just double check. It was a good thing Andrew lived at the boarding house close to campus, or the youth might have had some problems getting there. She had a car and could drive but since there was a chance she might have at least a sip of drink and there was no way she was risking her licence. No way at all.
Slipping the paper back in her pocket, Ella made her way up the drive-way. Smoothing over her jeans. She knew that most girls tended to wear dresses and things that showed off skin to parties but that really wasn’t Ella. She wasn’t comfortable showing off a lot of skin. Besides, Jeans were warm and if she walked home, warm would be good. Lost in her own thoughts, she wasn’t paying attention. For the second time that day she embarrassed herself in front Andrew. Placing her hand on his chest to steady herself, the girl flushed slightly. “Okay so I really need to learn to watch where I am going. What, that’s like the second time today I’ve been a total klutz. Anyway. Andrew. Hey.” She took a deep breath, still blushing. Hand still on his chest.
` w o r d c o u n t ! 688 ` l y r i c s ! i've just seen a face, the beatles ` t a g ! andrew ` o u t f i t ! clicky ` n o t e s ! I really love these two <3
